A basement or a loft clear-out is a volume job, and it goes wrong when the boxes run out halfway. Five bins at 97 quarts each gives 485 quarts of rolling storage, enough to empty a corner in one session. Each bin takes sixty pounds and has four castors, which matters on a concrete floor.

What it does well

Four things worth knowing

1Five of the largest size in one pack is enough to work through a whole area without stopping to buy more.
2Castors turn a loaded ninety-seven quart bin into something that can be moved alone, where a sealed box of the same size could not be.
3Sorting into labelled bins rather than cardboard means the contents stay reachable through the front door afterwards.
4Polypropylene does not soften in a damp basement the way cardboard does over a winter.
